Rohit Sharma enters the race for the IPL 2024 Orange Cap after scoring a century against CSK, but Virat Kohli remains in the lead.

Rohit Sharma, who plays for the Mumbai Indians, entered the race for the orange cap in the Indian Premier League 2024 when he scored 105 runs off of just 63 deliveries in the Mumbai Indians’ loss to the Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium.

With 261 runs scored throughout six games, Rohit is now in fourth place in the list of players with the most runs scored. Even though Virat Kohli continues to wield the orange cap, Riyan Parag and Sanju Samson are currently in second and third place, respectively.

Another player in the running is Shubman Gill of the Gujarat Titans. He has scored 255 runs in his six innings played.

In his first century in the Indian Premier League, Rohit Sharma was the only player to score a century as the team attempted to chase down 207 runs. However, the efforts of the former MI team captain were overshadowed by the Chennai Super Kings, who eventually prevailed by a score of 20 runs.

As the home team’s opener, Rohit smashed 11 fours and five sixes in his 63-ball 105, an attempt to achieve a score higher than the minimum required. Additionally, Rohit made history throughout his innings by being the first Indian batsman in the history of Twenty20s to hit 500 sixes.

In the present Indian Premier League season, Rohit notched his third century. In the exact match, Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler scored the highest possible score of ten runs.

CSK were allowed to bat earlier by the Mumbai Indians. After the opening pair of Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra was dismissed, Ruturaj Gaikwad (69 off 40) and Shivam Dube (66 off 38) could score some desperately required boundaries.

After that, MS Dhoni added the finishing touches by hitting a hat trick of sixes off Hardik Pandya’s final over, propelling CSK to a score of more than 200.

Both MI and CSK have a history of producing high-quality matches. After the game, Shardul Thakur commented that Rohit’s and Rutu and Shivam’s innings were quite successful.

When Rohit was performing well, we thought the game was beginning to deteriorate. We seemed toWe need to show some bravery and force him to hit the larger side. He continued, saying, “If he gets a boundary, we will give him full marks, and if he misses, we could turn the game around.”

CSK remains the third team in the points standings with four victories from six games. On the other hand, Michigan has two victories from the same number of games.

At the beginning of each new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), much attention is focused on the players who reach the highest total number of runs scored during the season and are awarded the Orange Cap.

Shubman Gill, currently the captain of the Gujarat Titans, earned the Orange Cap with 890 runs during the previous season. Immediately after him came Faf du Plessis, the captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who scored 730, and Devon Conway, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, who scored 672. At number four, RCB’s Virat Kohli scored 639, and Yashasvi Jaiswal finished in fifth place with a score of 625.
