IPL 2024 Most Wickets, Purple Cap Holder: Khaleel Ahmed moved up a spot in the IPL 2024 leading wicket takers count when he took his 17th wicket of the season in Delhi Capitals’ final league game victory against the Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday. This victory allowed him to capture the Purple Cap.
On account of the wicket that he took against LSG, Mukesh Kumar, who plays for DC, has also found his way into the top-five list of wicket-takers.
During the encounter on Saturday at Eden Gardens between the Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders, Jasprit Bumrah, a seamer for the Mumbai Indians, had established himself once again at the top of the wicket-taking statistics.
This brings Bumrah’s total to 20 wickets, equal to that of Harshal Patel, who had gone to the top of the table on Wednesday. Bumrah took two wickets while allowing 39 runs to be scored during the match. Bumrah’s economy rate is higher than that of the bowler for the Punjab Kings, which has contributed to his rise to the top of the standings.

At the beginning of each new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a great deal of attention is focused on the players who have taken the most wickets and were awarded the Purple Cap of the season. These represent likely their respective national teams in subsequent competitions, such as the Twenty20 World Cup Tournament. A player’s value for the following season might increase if they successfully perform in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mohammed Shami, who played for Gujarat Titans and took 28 wickets in 17 matches during the 2023 season, was awarded the Purple Cap. His teammate Mohit Sharma came in second with 27 scalps in 14 games, following him in the rankings. With 27 wickets in 17 games, Rashid Khan of Afghanistan, also a member of the GT, came in at number three. Piyush Chawla of Mumbai Indians, who got 22 wickets in 16 games, was the player who gave him the most competition. Chahal, who played for RR, finished fifth on the list with 21 wickets collected in 14 matches. Following the game between the Gujarat Titans and the Chennai Super Kings, there has been no change in the standings of the table.
